PS4 and next Xbox to be revealed at E3

first_imgIf you are considering attending the E3 games show this year, then news coming out of UK game trade publication MCV may help you make that decision. Apparently, this year will be the first time in the show’s history that three brand new consoles are going to be demonstrated. In other words, MCV has it on good authority that not only will we get to see the Wii U in action, but Sony and Microsoft will be there showing off the PS4 and Xbox 720 (who knows what Microsoft will call its next console). You may doubt that Sony and Microsoft will roll out new hardware at the show, but according to MCV editor Ben Parfitt, his source is “100% solid” with the following tweet appearing on his account:Even if both consoles do make an appearance at E3, we shouldn’t expect too much in the way of details, so no price or launch dates. Apparently this is being done to counter the build up to the launch of the Wii U, with both Microsoft and Sony’s next hardware not expected to arrive until 2013 at the earliest. What’s most interesting in all of this is what Sony is doing. If the PS4 turns up at E3 it shows the company is worried about arriving late to market again, like it did with the PS3. Launching at the same time as the next Xbox would show Sony has finally accepted Microsoft as a true competitor in the video games market at least.E3 runs from June 5-7 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. If this rumor is indeed true, I doubt this is the last we will hear of it in the coming months. We should also expect a few images to leak and details of the hardware to start appearing.More at MCVlast_img read more
