Two Candidates Vying For Vacant Soldotna Mayor Seat

first_imgFacebookTwitterEmailPrintFriendly分享Two candidates are vying for the recently vacated Soldotna mayoral seat, former Mayor Pete Sprague, and Charlene Tautfest. A special election will be held on Tuesday, December 17, to fill the vacant mayor seat after the sudden passing of Mayor Dr. Nels Anderson.  The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Any qualified voter may vote an absentee ballot for the precinct in which he/she resides and is registered. Absentee voting in person begins December 2, at Soldotna City Hall. In his candidate statement Sprague stated: “Four years ago, I followed Dr. Nels Anderson’s footsteps to serve as your Soldotna mayor. I wish to follow in Dr. Anderson’s footsteps to once again serve as mayor. I am proud of my twenty years of service to the community as a council member, assembly member, and mayor.” Tautfest did not provide a candidate statement, but listed under experience; Alaska Mental Health Board 2013 – Current, Alaska Coalition on Housing and Homelessness 2018 – Current, and Governor’s Council on Disabilities & Special Education 2019 – Current.
