Free national debt advice service set to close

first_imgThe Financial Inclusion Fund’s (FIF) free national debt advice service is set to close after the government axed its £25m-a-year funding. Last month, the financial secretary to the Treasury, Mark Hoban, confirmed that funding for the free face-to-face advice service, which has operated since 2005, will end in March. The project helps around 100,000 people every year to manage their debts. Its closure will mean the redundancy of 500 debt advisers, at a time when the demand for debt advice is predicted to soar. Tobias Stapf, FIF project manager in London, said: ‘Last year the FIF debt advice service was found by the National Audit Office to provide “value for money” because it is saving significant amounts for the government, the courts [and other bodies]. ‘Time and time again it has been shown that timely and expert intervention in debt problems can prevent debts spiralling out of control and help people get their lives back on track.’ A Treasury spokeswoman said government had already announced a free and impartial national financial advice service.last_img read more

Vettel is worried. Ferrari does not rule out giving him…

first_imgCharles Leclerc took third and fourth place at Silverston, for a total of 27 points. Sebastian Vettel scored only 1 point. On Sunday, Vettel complained about his strategy, but according to Binott, Vettel’s race was mainly affected by hours after the start. Binotto also denied that the team would adjust Vettel’s strategy to help Leclerc.Vettel built four laps for the first time after Leclerc, but then again after only 11 laps on a new set of hard tires.“We didn’t sacrifice ourselves,” Binotto said. “At the time, we thought nothing would change for him if he stopped a little earlier or later.”In response to a question from RaceFans, Vettel admitted that the race was better this time than a week ago.“We worked hard over the weekend and I felt a little better from the car than I did last weekend,” Vettel said, “it may not have turned out in qualifying, but I think we were more competitive in the race.”“Last week I tried to keep my opponents. I was able to go faster today, but I was still stuck. ”“We had a car with a slightly different level of downforce. It seemed that we had a relatively uniform loss in each round, but I mostly suffered in slow and medium-fast corners. ”Mattia Binotto did not rule out that Vettel could get a new chassis. “It’s something we haven’t discussed yet,” Binotto said. “It’s part of the discussions we have to have in the team.”“We are open if there is something that can help him. Everything we can do to help him is important to us and to ourselves. From the point of view of the team and the rider, it is important to try to improve in the next races. ”“I’ll leave it to the riders and the team to evaluate it and decide.”last_img read more
